Twitch Plays Pokemon
So, I'm not sure if we're all Pokemon fans here or whatever, but this is some entertaining stuff. You've probably heard of it by now, it's been hard to miss, but if you haven't I'll tl;dr it here for you.
Social experiment, livestream, bot registers chat commands as button inputs, lots of people, chaos, Helix Fossil, Bird Jesus, Flareon, anarchy vs democracy, surprising amounts of progress, over one week in.
The stream is here.
So, what do you guys think of it? Personally, I'm shocked they got through ~3/4 of the game in this amount of time. They beat Lt. Surge's gym (which is luck based and gives people trouble when alone) on their first attempt. They navigated Rock Tunnel without Flash. They got through Rocket HQ's maze. They got through Pokemon Tower with all of two moves that can hit Ghost types. They have 5 badges. They got through the Safari Zone (which, if failed enough, can make the game unwinnable) with steps to spare. They got through Silph Co in just one hour. The last one especially is notable because it took me an hour and a half on my own during my Let's Play of Yellow. Sure, they lost to Giovanni and had to go back through again (and that's where they are as of this post), but that's still an incredible feat.
This is the same group of people that took over half a day to walk past a ledge, takes 5 hours to cut down a tree every time they need to do that, repeatedly releases good Pokemon and deposits necessary items, tosses good items regularly, and got trapped for 2 hours in a Pokemon Center. Not to mention all of the trolls, bots, Twitch's input lag, and chat problems (so much so that they have a dedicated server because Twitch couldn't handle the sheer amount of people playing the game).
This post dragged on a lot more than I expected it to, haha. Anyway, yeah, what do you think?

Re: Twitch Plays Pokemon
A week with no one trying to be an ass and releasing their best pokemon or whatever. That's impressive.

Oh, people have tried. In fact, just last night, a guy streaming Starcraft II sent his chat to try and release their best Pokemon, but he failed.
