Fan conventions 2014

Two weeks of 2014 gone by, fifty left to go. Sometime later this year, I'm hoping to attend at least one local fan convention, and one that's out-of-town. So yeah... some questions...

1. How about you? Do you intend to go to a con during 2014?

2. What attracts you to fan conventions? Is there a specific activity or event?

3. Is there a currently active con which you enjoy and consider routinely entertaining?


I'll start looking for 2014 cons that have at least some of the following factors:
* near a city which is a good place for tourism
* in a place where it's easy to get around without relying on a car
* decent neighborhood with useful amenities
* variety of nearby hotels, especially ones that aren't overpriced or run-down
* convention is operated by reliable, experienced people
* con staff know how to manage lines and crowds

If there's one which will have a VN or Starswirl panel, that will get my attention.

1) I don't plan on going to a convention this year, but if one presents itself, I might. >w<

2) Uhmmmmm I'll go to just about any convention. :u As long as it's, like, a legit one that's not just a get together with twenty people in some dude's basement or something. Hamacon '13 was fun, and just the right size for me! owo/ I just wish there was more pony panels. Aside from the merchant stalls, there was only one pony thing.

3) Well that was Hamacon, but I recently moved out of Alabama. :c

That's gonna be tricky. Not sure if we can do any pony conventions anymore, but I'll look into it.
